Remembering Kevin Wright
Kevin Mark Wright (1964-2023) was the Technical Director, and later the Production Manager, of U of T Scarborough's Leigha Lee Browne Theatre. He was hired in 1995 to support the busy annual calendar of classes and events in the campus’s then newly renovated theatre. For nearly three decades, Kevin would help ensure the safety of the space and equipment, manage the venue, supervise projects and teach technical theatre.
Beyond his duties, he was a friend to generations of students and colleagues. He carried an infectious joy and kindness, always eager to hear how others were doing and share a story. He was a knowledge-keeper of arcane lore, a cool nerd long before being a cool nerd seemed possible. Over long hours spent rehearsing in the evening or building sets in the shop, students would be regaled with his legendary stories. They’d get to feeling like they knew his family, wife Lisa, and boys Alec, Kyle, and Brendan, of whom he was beamingly proud.
Kevin cared deeply about this campus and all those who have passed through it. That is why we have created a space to remember him.
