The Balcony Square began publication as the official student newspaper of Scarborough College in 1969 and continued until Scarborough College Student Council ceased its funding in 1982. It was succeeded by the then-unofficial student newspaper: The Underground, published by The Balcony Suqare's former editorial team. This collection spans the years 1969 to 1982 when the newspaper was discontinued.
